My name is John and I'm the registered Herbalist, Reiki-Seichem Master and Meridian/EFT therapist for the Nightingale Clinic.
I've been involved with the holistic and complementary field for over eleven years. My training has involved furthering and integrating knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Western Holistic medicine.
Previous to this I studied Pharmaceutical Science and Analytical Chemistry to degree level. Yet even at this time, I started to question whether pharmaceutical drugs were the best method of treating acute disease and more chronic health conditions.
Further academic study involved applying the previous degree to environmental analysis and directing the knowledge I had gained to bettering the environment for all. Despite efforts to develop a career in the environmental industry, opportunities failed to materialise. What had begun as personal interests several years ago while at university started to open up as a career.
Personally, I find holistic medicine is similar to gardening, it aims to bring the whole person into balance, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually; by treating the branch, trunk and roots of any health issue.
Conventional medicine is more like mechanics, it views the body as a bio-mechanical machine and fixes health conditions in a symptomatic nuts and bolts way. It just has a different approach to holistic medicine, yet if we combine the two approaches; everyone benefits.
I actively encourage any patient to use holistic treatment in conjunction with conventional medicine. We all have the ability and choice to bring our lives into balance; and that each approach is unique to each person.
I'm qualified to practice several therapies which include Herbal Medicine, Tera-Mai™ Reiki-Seichem hands-on healing; EFT and Meridian therapies. I completed my professional (Herbal) clinical practice in Nanjing, China and London with Pierre Cousin.
I'm a registered member of the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners (URHP). I also trained within the Tera-Mai™ healing system as a Master-Teacher; and as a licensed practitioner of Meridian therapies with the UK Association for Meridian therapies. Besides running a therapy practice, I also write and facilitate personal development courses.
